Verses 25-26
“25Then Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit [give attention to] you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.” 26So Joseph died, being one hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.”
– Genesis 50:25-26 (NKJV)
“Then Joseph took an oath (beseeching them to swear under oath in the same earnest manner recently beheld in Jacob: that they will deal with his earthly remains in accordance with God’s Sovereign Ordination as He reveals it unto them; proving once more, that there is a profound implication in that which is represented in- or by the physical matter, most notably the uttermost remnants thereof – the bones [Ezek 37) – of the earthly body of The Saints, that is of more far-reaching consequence, at least within this age, than modern man is perhaps able to understand; as again also reiterated and implicated in the angelic wrestling over Moses’s earthly body in Jude’s epistle) from the children of Israel (recognise the first Scriptural instance of The People of God formally announced as “The Children of Israel” : that both young and old shall forever be dependent upon Almighty God as their ABBA Father and receive salvation by Faith “as a child” [Mark 10:15], united under The Name given unto them by That Selfsame God: The Name of Israel: a Treasured Possession, A Nation Set Apart Unto God), saying, “God will surely visit you, (having also operated in the sphere of receiving dreams and their interpretations from The LORD, we recognise here once more the profound sense in which Joseph has become a harbinger of the New Covenantal operation in The Gifts of The Spirit as passed down by- and In Christ; unlike his forefathers he does not merely speak on behalf of God – whether they did so knowingly or unknowingly – in the giving of these instructions of [Israeli] nation-al importance for posterity’s sake & in the establishing of foundations from which to build [the Old Covenantal version of 1 Cor 3:9-15], no, he Trusts with Faith as if A Substance [“surely “; Heb 11:1] that God will supernaturally reveal Himself to this new generation and impart the knowledge unto them by Divinely Creative means that speaks of The Greater Covenant to come) and you shall carry up (intimating but not confirming that he too will be laid to rest in the region where his forefathers were buried as the same locational phrase “carry up” is used that was used for Jacob who also died in Egypt; though nevertheless not retracting their need to humbly Trust and depend upon the receiving of the fuller revelation and instruction when “God will surely visit [them]”) my bones (the uttermost remnant of my earthly tent; see Ezek 37 note earlier) from here (already received by Joseph as a prophetic certainty that he will also then die in the very place within which God had sent him to serve: to save, subdue, rule and reign over).” So Joseph died (as he had spoken), being one hundred and ten years old (reiterated here a second time; “living long in the land the LORD God had given him”, as promised); and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt (as previously discussed: aided and preserved by the most pre-eminent preservation and burial techniques for the honouring [in this case True] Royalty in the earth in that day, as Sovereignly and peculiarly ordained by God for such a time as this).” (Dear Friend, upon closing I would like to invite you to ponder and meditate, with all the Selah you can muster: if the people of Egypt were so deeply grieved and moved to exceeding empathy at the passing of their Beloved Joseph’s loved one, his father, imagine the grief and mourning in that place when he himself passed away: The Man sent to save them from destruction, The Man they owe their eternal life to . . . )
