Verses 6-7
“6And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. 7But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.”
– Exodus 1:6-7 (NKJV)
“(a) And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly (b) [Recognise the five-fold, almost hyperbolic, emphasis The Scripture places here, I believe for the ultimate purpose of confirming – without any doubt whatsoever, and with the maximum Glory given to God – that surely, surely, surely The Promise given unto Abraham (even in his own yet spiritual infancy as Abram), namely, that He will make him A Great Nation (Genesis 12), is rapidly and with astonishing exponential growth, Coming To Pass. Let us also reverently take this moment to reflect upon the many travails surrounding the birth and life of the first child from whom This Great Nation was to be birthed, Isaac, and marvel soberly at the God-given imperative not to “despise . . . small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin” (Zech 4:10 NLT)] mighty (c) [by The Strength of God in A Mighty Display of His Character, as also described in Isaiah 40:29]; and the land was filled with them (d) [and so The Old Covenantal instalment of the colonisation of The Kingdom of God across all the earth begins . . . 😊 ].”
(a) For “From Death Comes Life” Beloved Reader; even Resurrection Life. Our Lord Died that many may Live: The First Seed Planted in the ground and The First of many Children to be Resurrected unto Eternal Life, that The Kingdom of God may be “filled with them “. This theme is one of ancient of days; recognise the eternal expression of the seed that goes into the ground and dies to produce a manifold harvest, also brought to remembrance in the agricultural terms used here: “fruitful ” and “grew “. The death of Joseph * also here announced exclusively again posits him as the Christ-type of the time * then; together with “his brothers” ** and “all that generation” *** : becoming a picture of the twelve disciples martyred ** as well as countless other sojourners, labourers and pilgrims ***, suffering and toiling for the sake of the bountiful harvest to come within the following age.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”- John 12:24-25 (NKJV)
