Verse 22
“22Only the land of the priests he did not buy; for the priests had rations allotted to them by Pharaoh, and they ate their rations which Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their lands.”
– Genesis 47:22 (NKJV)
“Only the land of the priests he did not buy (they were not Saved); for the priests had rations allotted to them by Pharaoh, and they ate their rations which Pharaoh gave them (Luke 6:35); therefore they did not sell their lands.” (Let us remember that these were pagan “priests” and we recognise in this brief passage their irremediable hardness of heart and rebellion. Their ruler Pharaoh has proven himself humble, malleable in the hand of God, submissive & teachable under Joseph’s bottom-up [as opposed to top-down] leadership style that reveals the wise rule characteristic of The Kingdom of God Himself. In their deception and abject opposition to God it only follows that they would consequently esteem Pharaoh “a fool” for being so “weak”, for they contrastingly reason in accordance with the earthly, sensual demonic “wisdom” of the world [James 3:15] that seeks not to part with its land. For where Pharaoh – and as many people as have been led to follow him in this – yield and sacrifice their all for The Bread of Life that they might be saved, these wicked priests insist upon trying to “hold on to their lives” yet will of course ultimately, tragically lose it [Luke 17:33]. Already well-versed in the art of higher-order witchcraft and divination, it would then not be far from them to rely upon witchcraft of the flesh [Gal 5:19-20], namely intimidation, manipulation and control to force dear Pharaoh’s hand to award them an allotment of – what to them has become but earthly, perishable bread – with neither sacrifice, nor humbling on their part, effectively disqualifying them from True Salvation: eating of The Bread of [Eternal] Life, and therein barring them from entry into The Kingdom of God. I believe it is precisely this irrational wisdom of the wicked – together with its system of cruelly oppressive manipulation, intimidation and control – that dear, sweet Asenath sought so desperately to escape out from under when she appealed to The One True God to save her, and HE anointed her as Joseph’s wife in what would ultimately become yet another beautiful image of the uniting of Christ and His Bride ☺️.)
