Verses 14-15
“14 ”Issachar is a strong donkey,
Lying down between
two burdens;
15 He saw that rest was good,
And that the land
was pleasant;
He bowed his shoulder
to bear a burden,
And became a band
of slaves.”
– Genesis 49:14-15 (NKJV)
“Issachar is a strong donkey, (a paradox of pride and humility: Lying down between two burdens ; He saw that rest was good (even as from The Father: Ps 52:1 [NKJV]), And that the land was pleasant (even ‘the land of milk & honey’, as Promised); (could it be that he desires full assimilation with the humility and its servitude – i.e. being yoked with Our Lord, a yielded vessel for Him to ride in upon – that his identity as donkey represents, yet at the same time is torn by his also being called strong, and his sincere desire for Glory and True Rest – both portions attributed to The True Child of God [Ps 18:1] – yet easily distorted by the enemy and the pleasures of this world to seduce unto the puffing up of self by being offered the counterfeit peace “as the world gives” [John 14:27]?) He bowed his shoulder (he bowed down to the lie, as opposed to The One upon whose shoulder The True Government rests [Is 9:6], pun intended) to bear a burden, And became a band of slaves (and so as he ultimately yielded to pride he was “taken captive by the enemy to do his will” [2 Tim 2:26] and succumbed to the burden that is heavy as opposed to the one that is light [Matt 11:29-30] when One with the Lord and doing the Will of The Father in serving Him as a free man).”
