Genesis 49:13

Verse 13

13Zebulun shall dwell by

the haven of the sea;

       He shall become a

haven for ships,

       And his border shall

adjoin Sidon.”

– Genesis 49:13 (NKJV)

“Zebulun shall dwell by (shall inhabit and secure territory irrevocably, for ‘Thus sayeth The Lord’) the haven 🏞 of the sea (that quiet place where Leviathan and other marine spirits have no jurisdiction, no authority, where they are not permitted to dwell, for it is comparable to The Country Beulah beside The Dark River in John Bunyan’s ‘Pilgrim’s Progress’, sanctioned by The Lord for the purpose of Rest; the wise stewarding thereof here committed unto Zebulun as a blessing imparted to him, for it appears he has sown “in Righteousness” [“now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace” – James 3:18], and is therein proved worthy to receive this high calling); He shall become a haven for ships (Zebulun here prophetically also becomes a Christ-type, a harbinger of our Lord as ‘The One Who Calms the storm’ for the sake of the elect, who are making their journey aboard their vessels through this tumultuous earth towards The Promised Land), And his border shall adjoin Sidon (again we recognise here a subtle reference to his kinship with Our Lord, Sidon being representative of Majesty of the highest echelons, in it being the first- and initially sole-, manufacturer of the rare and expensive purple dye become synonymous with Royalty; Zebulun will literally “border on Greatness” in fulfilling this role).” *

* The broader geographical and literal practical implications of the establishment and settling of this Tribe of Israel within the historical Country of Israel as a whole is of course also being prophesied of here: “But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.” – 1 Peter 5:10 (NKJV)
